Strength Powerlifting Challenge to be held on July 19th. Entry forms and
information are posted. Pre-register by June 19th for a free meet t-shirt.

A HUGE CONGRATS TO ONE OF OUR OWN. Mike McCoy won the USAPL High School
Nationals this weekend at just 16 years old. Mike is in the 242lb weight class
and finished with the 2nd highest total in the entire meet. He would have won
the 275 pound class and would have been 2nd in the SHW class at only around
230lbs bodyweight. Mike had a great day, he went 9 for 9 and had to make up
nearly a 70llb deficit after the squat to win. He set an American Teen Record in
the Bench and Deadlift and only missed a record total by 5lbs.
Looks like the USAPL is starting to notice what North Carolina
has to offer.
In the last year North Carolina has had:

5 IPF World Team members
3 IPF World Medals
North Carolina Athletes also hold 8 current American Records

Battle on the Border II has been added to the results page.
Next competition will be the 2008 USAPL Show
of Strength on July 19, 2008. This will be the last NC qualifier for the Bench
Press Nationals to be held in Charlotte on Aug. 30 &31st.

Happy New Year! Charlotte
was awarded the 2008 USAPL Bench Press Nationals. It will be held at Spirit
Square in Uptown Charlotte August 30 & 31st...more details to come.

Congratulations Donovan and Kent! Donovan took fifth place over all and
first place in the bench press in the Master's I, 165 lb. class. Kent took sixth
place over all and third place in the deadlift in the Master's II, 181 lb. weigh
class.

Congratulations to our new 2007 USAPL North Carolina
State Champions and new state record holders. Our state meet was August11th and
we had a wonderful turn out of veterans and many new lifters. Bill Schmidt did
an excellent job putting together a spectacular state meet. The spotters and
loaders were exceptional! Results and record updates to come shortly. If you
have any pictures of the competition please e-mail them to us and we will post
them on the results page.

Gina Benton takes 6th place in the 123 lb. weight class at the
IPF World Bench Press Championships. Gina had a PR on her second lift with a
bench of 193 lb. She took a shot at third place with a 231 lb. bench press and
gave it a good roll.
Jennifer Thompson took 2nd place in the 148 lb. weight class
weighing in at 133 lbs. She bumped up from the 132 lb. weight class to beat the
Japanese lifter and help the women take first place at the World Championships.
Jennifer benched 308 lbs. on her second lift and missed a third attempt at 314
lb.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! To Kent Walton (Raleigh) and Donovan Thompson (Charlotte)
who completed in the 2007 USAPL Men's Masters Powerlifting Nationals, both took
first place in their weight classes. Bill Schmidt (Raleigh) held on to take
