11/13/09 Please check out our "lifter's profile page" as we have added accomplished lifter Tammy Walker. Please e-mail us if you would like to add your gym to our "gyms" page. We get lots of e-mails asking for gym establishments and workout partners. A late congratulations to Mike Mc Coy who won the IPF Sub Junior World Powerlifting Championships. He broke several World Records at this event last September. Our next event will be 2010 Battle on the Border in Charlotte on March 20th. Information is posted under "upcoming events".

Thanks again to Allen Davis for hosting a spectacular NC State Championships. We had a top notch venue and a well run meet. Thanks again to all of our referees who took their weekend to make our State Championships a great meet. Results will be posted shortly.

Hope to see everyone at the Dowd YMCA for our Ironman competition tomorrow. I sure hope you NC guys appreciate how we have been able to keep our entry fees down during this recession. Also, those of you who need to become USAPL memberships, they will be half off since it is so late in the year.

Congratulations to Team Carolina. Our Open team took first place with our Mixed team taking second. We had some spectacular lifting last weekend with many American Raw Records set. More details and pictures to come!

Rodney Allman won the Master's World Bench Press Championships in New Zealand with a huge 606lb bench at 275lbs.

Congratulations to our NC lifters at the 2009 USAPL Master's Nationals in St. Louis, MI. Donovan Thompson took second place in the 165 lb. weight class (40-44yrs) losing on body weight but hitting some PR's. Kent Walton took second place in the 181 lb. weight class (50-54 yrs) hitting a squat PR.

Our next North Carolina competition will be August 8th at the Dowd YMCA in Charlotte. This will be an Ironman competition (push pull) and our State meet to follow on October 10th in Shelby NC.

Battle on the Border was a huge success. The largest state competition NC has seen - 103 lifters! Thanks so much to our meet director Jon Mouzon. He puts on a fantastic show. Thanks to all our spotter and loaders and referees - couldn't have pulled off such a huge event without you.

Great lifting at the competition. North Carolina holds the Championship for the third year in a row! It was a close one but we powered out on top! Lots of state and American records were set. Go to www.carolinastrength.org for the official results. We will try and get the NC records page updated as soon as possible. I will be sending out certificates in the next couple of weeks.

What an outstanding display of our sport! Great lifting, showmanship and sportsmanship - I am so proud!

Happy Holidays!

Congratulations to Bill Schmidt! He was the 39th individual inducted into the North Carolina Barbell Hall of Fame. We have been lucky to have Bill lift in the USAPL for many years. The Show of Strength Powerlifting Challenge was a huge success. We had a lot of American and State Records broken last weekend. Thanks to Brent Hindman for running the event. Show of Strength Results are posted and State Records will be updated in the next couple of weeks. Check back for details.
